The post about Boyle's heroic deed instantly went viral.
All Huntley could see while he was scrolling through Facebook were posts praising Boyle. There were obviously female fans who were also obsessing over Boyle's incredibly handsome features.
Huntley told Boyle who was lying in bed, "Whoa! You'll have a very hard time keeping a low profile now, Boyle! You've gone viral within the law industry!"
Boyle immediately snatched Huntley's phone. He frowned hard when he read through the posts.
Huntley teased, "Now that you're an internet celebrity, you’re gonna become so rich. Don't you forget about your friends, okay!"
Boyle's expression looked cold as he said, "Send two men to secretly protect Cherie."
Huntley was confused as he asked, "What's going on with Cherie?"
"Don't forget what the defendant's parents did. They were bold enough to stop us from going to court so now that we've won the case, I'm sure they aren't going to be particularly pleased by the outcome and might even lash out as revenge."
Huntley slapped his own head when Boyle mentioned that as he said, "You make a fair point. I might not be able to stay by your side these days, so I’ll have two of my family's bodyguards come over and keep you safe so you won't get stabbed again. We're lucky you weren't too seriously injured."
"I'm fine. I'm in a hospital so they can't lash out here."
Just as Huntley was about to make a phone call to make the arrangements, he realized something odd and turned around to stare at Boyle funnily before saying, "Wait a second. We're the ones who won the case so even if they wanted vengeance, they'd lash out at us. How does this have anything to do with Cherie?'
Huntley stared at Huntley's intrigued expression and immediately replied, "She's now my girlfriend so are there any problems?"
Trevor's father was a very reputable man in the entire capital, so it would be nothing more than a walk in the park for him if he wanted to find something out. He already had some men stakeout at 14th Street that morning as it was the usual route Boyle took. This meant he had been watching Boyle in secret for some time now.
Moreover, he had been interacting with Cherie more frequently and intimately recently, so it would not be out of reason if that person wanted to lash out at Cherie in vengeance.
"Oh," Huntley replied while staring at him with a very intriguing expression before continuing, "So she was the one pursuing you then. This is truly intriguing indeed. I never expected that little brat to be this capable. It didn’t take her long to actually successfully get you."
Boyle could not be bothered to respond to his jab and simply rush him, "Could you hurry up and get it done then?"
Huntley stared at him with a teasing look before saying, "Beg me."
Boyle rolled his eyes at him and replied monotonously, "I'm begging you."
Huntley was in an incredibly good mood as he said, "Hmph, so it seems the arrogant and cold lawyer actually knows how to beg. It seems to me like you’re doing something really dumb for love."
Boyle frowned when he thought about Cherie and asked Huntley, "Where's my phone?"
"In the drawer."
Boyle opened the drawer next to his bed and took his phone out. He noticed five to six missed calls when he switched it on. They were all from Cherie.
Boyle had a worried expression on his face when he called her back.
…
Cherie was quite annoyed when she received Boyle's call and she thought to herself, 'Just look at the time, what took him so long to call me back?'
Initially, she wanted to hang up the call but could not bring herself to do it. She was even more afraid of him not calling her back ever again. Because of that, she furiously picked up the call.
The instant she did, Cherie exclaimed, "Boyle, you stood me up. Do you know that if this were to happen to anyone else, they would've already blocked your number…"
However, before she could finish venting and after Boyle made sure she was completely fine, he told her, "Don't come over to meet me anymore in these next couple of days."
Cherie was confused at Boyle's sudden cold reply.
His tone of voice sounded completely neutral and did not seem apologetic at all.
"What do you mean, Boyle?"
Boyle was not good at explaining himself and it would only cause her more harm if he tried to explain it to her as it was best she knew as little as possible. Therefore, he merely replied, “The answer is obvious."
Cherie grew even more furious as she said, "But you told me yesterday that you have something to tell me after the second trial. Did you actually mean to tell me all of this?"
Was he trying to tell her to stop bothering him ever again?
