Cherie began to gradually wake up after the effects of the anesthesia wore off.
Both Heaton and Verian were keeping watch by her side. They noticed when she let out a soft groan.
"How are you feeling, Jelly Bean?" Verian inched closer to her. She asked in a caring tone while she teared up.
The instant Cherie opened her eyes, she noticed both Heaton and Verian staring at her with concerned gazes beside her.
She never screamed out in pain. However, she broke down to tears in an instant.
Verian reached out to wipe her tears as she asked, "Does it hurt? Do you want the doctors to come over?"
Cherie shook her head while she cried. The first thing she asked was, "The child… is the child gone?"
Verian sniffled before reaching out to caress her little face as she comforted her through her tears, "Our Jelly Bean is still so young. It's not the right time for you to have a child yet."
"So, it's really gone then?"
Cherie's voice trembled.
Both Heaton and Verian remained silent for a really long time. It seemed they answered her question with their silence.
Heaton bent over and patted his daughter's little head. He spoke in a gentle tone, "The most important thing you need to do right now is to recover. Leave the rest to me, okay? Don't worry about anything else. Daddy's here and no one else can bully you."
Cherie cried harder as she said in an extremely guilty tone, "Daddy, Monty, I'm so sorry. Am I a horrible person to have disappointed you guys?"
Verian said, "You're our daughter so how could you think that you're disappointing us?"
Heaton lowered his head and kissed his daughter's forehead as he spoke in a gentle tone, "No matter what you do, you're still our daughter. Monty and I will always love you unconditionally forever."
Verian held onto her little hand while at the same time being enveloped by Heaton's huge hands.
Cherie said, "Daddy, please scold me, please. I feel awful. I'll feel much better if you'd scold me."
It was only then did she realize how immature and unruly she truly was.
"Oh, you're my beloved so how could I have the heart to scold you anyway. It's like breaking my favorite vase when you're little. However, I still couldn't bring myself to scold you because I love you."
…
Cherie had stayed in the hospital for a couple of days. It was unsure what she was thinking about since she would often start crying alone in bed.
After some time however, she no longer cried anymore and had gotten significantly more quiet.
Both Heaton and Verian were hurt when they noticed her change.
Jelly Bean had always been a cheerful ball of joy in their eyes ever since she was a child. They had never seen her in such a depressed state before.
It seemed like losing both Boyle and her child hurt her tremendously.
Both Heaton and Verian never asked about Boyle or her fall.
Heaton would rather have someone investigate the incident than hurt Jelly Bean further.
Whitney came to visit Cherie at the hospital.
Verian told Whitney outside of her room, "Whitney, you and Jelly Bean are best friends. She's unwilling to tell me or her father anything. Maybe, she might be willing to tell you about it. Could you help me cheer her up? She hasn't smiled in a very long time now. She loved to smile before all of this so please, okay?"
Whitney felt awful as well as she was also starting to tear up. She said, "Don't worry Aunty Verian. Cherie is my best friend and I'll make sure I cheer her up."
"Alright, thanks."
Verian hugged Whitney.
Heaton and Verian walked out of her room after Whitney entered. They did not want to disturb their conversation.
Whitney teased Cherie, "Aren't you bored lying here all the time?"
