Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 996

Time went back to seven years ago.

Yanny was 18 years old back then. She was still using Jacob’s surname, not her biological mother’s surname as she was still a daughter of the Jacob family, hence she was known as Hillary Jacob.

Sounds of cicadas chirping filled the yard. The summer’s afternoon sun in North City was so hot it could make one faint.

An unusual car was parked in the yard of the Jacob family mansion that day.

It was a limited-edition Bentley that had already been globally discontinued. It meant that one would not be able to purchase such a car even if they had the money.

Hillary looked it up on her phone. The luxurious car was worth 80 million bucks.

It indeed belonged to a rich person.

However, what did the Jacob family do to get acquainted with such a rich family? Although the Jacob family was pretty famous in North City, they were nothing compared to a car that was worth 80 million bucks.

The Jacob’s net worth would be only 80 million even after adding up their entire industrial chain and immovable properties.

Hillary was sitting under the acacia tree beside the door. She grabbed some red and white acacias. They were fluffy like a dandelion which would drift through the air with one blow.

Hillary’s gaze traced the acacia floating in the air and she caught a glimpse of the bedroom on the second floor of the villa.

There were reflections moving inside the house.

It was Cara, the second daughter of the Jacob family.

However, Hillary never admitted that Cara was her younger sister.

In Hillary’s eyes, her sister from another mother was nothing but a proof of Winson, her father’s betrayal of her mother.

It was a disgrace.

Cara was in Hillary’s bedroom. Cara must be searching through her wardrobe, trying to find the most beautiful and most expensive dress to wear before meeting that unusual guest.

Contempt and disdain filled Hillary’s eyes.

Inside the villa, Winson and Lina, his second wife, were courteously chatting up the unusual guest with a bright smile on their faces.

Lina looked at the things on the table and she could not stop smiling as she said, “Master Shayne, you brought so many gifts for us. That’s very kind of you.”

Winson smiled politely. He did not forget to flatter him as he continued talking, “Master Shayne, we’re really honoured to have you visit us today, let alone these gifts. Master Shayne just closed a huge deal with us a few days ago. We can never repay your kindness.”

Shayne did not seem to be attracted to those pleasantries. He was obviously a little irritated. He simply said, “Aunt Lina saved my life. These are just small favors so it doesn’t matter.”

Lina looked at Winson and smiled happily. Then, she said to Jinn politely, "Master Shayne, what are you talking about? The Buddha said that saving one’s life is better than building a seven-floor pagoda. Moreover, I’m saving the great Master Shayne. How dare we ask for you to repay us?”

Standing outside in the yard, Hillary saw Winson nodding and bowing at the important guest. Anger instantly built up in her.

Inside the house, Jinn frowned slightly after drinking the tea served by the Jacob family.

The tea was poorly brewed. They literally ruined the best green tea in the capital.

Lina was good at reading people. She asked, "Master Shayne, is the tea not to your liking?"

"It’s fine."

Lina quickly said, "This tea must have been brewed by Hillary. Please wait for a moment, Master Shayne. Cara should be coming down soon. She learned tea-brewing recently, so I believe she can make you some good tea.”

Shayne got up. He did not want to stay any longer. Moreover, he knew nothing about Hillary and Cara.

They must be the daughters of the Jacob family.

At that moment, Cara came down from the second floor. She had put on some perfume and was dressed in the most beautiful dress.

Lina hurried over and grabbed Cara’s arm. She pulled her over to Shayne.

She even scolded Cara, "Cara, how can you be so inconsiderate? Master Shayne had been sitting and waiting for you to come downstairs for so long. He is our important guest."

Cara lifted her head to look at Shayne. She blushed and her heart skipped a beat as she thought to herself, ‘What a handsome man.’
