Jinn stood by the window and looked at the girl who was fishing by the pond under the tree.
Cara felt jealous. She clenched the hem of her skirt tightly.
Lina acted accordingly and said, "Master Shayne, stay here for dinner tonight. It's your first visit, so you can try some of my cooking."
Jinn replied, "Okay."
Did he say yes?
Lina quickly said, "Master Shayne, you and Cara can talk while l make you guys dinner in the kitchen. I haven't cooked for quite some time and I don't know if my cooking skill has gone rusty. What kind of dish do you prefer?"
"Fish." Jinn simply said. It seemed like he was simply putting her off.
Lina asked, "Braised or steamed?"
Jinn kept staring at the girl fishing by the pond without answering Lina's question.
Winson signaled Lina with his eyes to proceed with her cooking.
After a while, the girl by the pond caught another fish.
She was quite skilled.
Cara saw Jinn standing there silently. She tried to start a conversation with Jinn. She went to the window, leaned against it and said, “Master Shayne, I‘m going to take the university entrance examination soon. I don't know which university to study at. Can you choose for me?"
Jinn said, "You should discuss such issues with your parents. I don’t want you to blame me if I choose the wrong university for you."
"No, why would I? I believe in your taste.”
Jinn simply blurted out a university's name without much thought, “New Eastern University.“
Cara was speechless.
Cara almost lost her temper. However, she simply bit her lip and said in grievance after she thought of his background, "Master Shayne, did you forget something? New Eastern University is a culinary university.”
"What's wrong with learning cooking? Learning to cook is nothing to be ashamed of."
Cara remained silent. She could not tell whether Jinn was teasing her or he was being serious.
New Eastern University… what a humiliation.
Cara asked, "Which university did you graduate from?"
Jinn used to brush off such boring blind-date style questions but instead he said, "Me? I am good for nothing. I studied almost nothing and I was kicked out of high school because of fighting."
He thought to himself, ‘I’m really not your cup of tea.’
Cara thought she touched Jinn's weak spot, so she tried to encourage him, "A person who has a family background like you can make their family business flourish even if they were kicked out of school. He or she could still become a great person. You don’t know how much those students who graduated from top-tier universities envy you.”
Jinn snorted softly.
The girl who was fishing by the pond kept her fishing rod and walked past the acacia tree with a small white bucket in her hand.
She raised her hand and took off the straw hat on her head. Her long, black hair fell loose instantly. She had delicate facial features. She looked cold and arrogant, but she was young and beautiful.
Give her another two to three years and she would soon become prettier than those famous actresses and singers in the entertainment industry.
He never knew that there was such a beautiful girl in the Jacob family.
Jinn was surprised.
Hillary soon came in with the fish bucket in her hands.
Cara walked up to her and a fishy odor wafted through her nose. She looked disgusted as she said, "The fish stinks. Take them out quickly. Can't you see that Master Shayne is here?"
Hillary looked up and saw the man standing by the window. He was tall and stunning.
Winson said to his eldest daughter, "Hillary, this is Master Shayne, an important guest of our family. Greet him.”
Hillary stared straight at Jinn and greeted him stiffly, "Hello, Master Shayne."
Winson said, "Both of you are here just in time. The tea that Master Shayne just drank was not well brewed. Both of you have been studying tea-brewing and flower arrangement recently. Why don’t both of you compete so that Master Shayne and I can check up on your extracurricular homework?”
Hillary’s lips twitched. Tea-brewing and flower arrangement?
Since when did her father know about her learning that? Lina had confiscated her tuition fees for tea-brewing and flower arrangement lessons.
On the contrary, Cara had been learning them for about a year.
Cara smirked. She was secretly pleased as she said, "Yes, father. Hillary, let's brew some tea together."
She was definitely going to win Hillary in tea-brewing. Hillary had never even learned it before. How could she compete with her?
