After getting out of the van, Travis immediately walked up to Adam and took hold of Sean's hand. The three of them headed straight toward the supermarket entrance.

The entrance to the supermarket was narrow, so Nadine had to wait for Adam, Travis, and Sean to go in before her. As such, she was all alone.

Nadine was about to follow them when Brad came over and stood next to her. He even placed his arm around her waist, drawing her closer to him, presumably to shield her from the bustling crowd.

She was practically leaning on him now. She was caught off guard as his familiar earthy scent enveloped her.

Nadine had once dreamed of moments like this when Brad had first recovered; walking side-by-side, shopping for their little one, and for their home. Unfortunately, Brad was so busy back then. All he did when he got home was toss his briefcase on the couch and just sit there, too exhausted to do anything else.

She knew how exhausted he was from work, and she could tell that he wasn't interested in going shopping with her, so she never asked. Yet, now that she'd made up her mind to divorce him, suddenly he had all the time in the world for her. The irony was laughable.

As soon as her head touched his shoulder, she snapped back to reality. She abruptly pulled away from his arms and glared at him. Then, she stormed off without a backward glance.

Brad stared at his empty hand and watched her walk away, puzzled. What had he done wrong? Why was she upset? Could it be that this wasn't what she wanted after all?
