Please Give Me Another Chance, Mrs. Hamilton novel Chapter 519

By the time Nadine came to her senses, Brad was already gone. Not long after, the sound of a car engine revving up echoed through the courtyard.

Nadine watched Brad's silver Aston Martin drive away until it was out of sight before she let her guard down. Even though this place had once been her sanctuary, she felt uneasy and uncomfortable every time she saw Brad.

If it had been in the past, she would've been over the moon if he treated her like this—but that was then. Now, she had outgrown the need for empty words of love.

Love couldn't put food on the table. She'd rather pursue financial stability and independence. Nadine didn't see the point in loving someone anymore.

Brad had given all his love to Jean and spent a fortune on her, which was enough to prove he genuinely loved her. Nadine couldn't help but wonder how she could have been so blind back then.

She could only blame herself for being so foolish and unable to see past her infatuation. Looking back, she realized that love wasn't everything. Once she let go, she understood it wasn't as important as she thought.

She couldn't fathom how she could have been so consumed by love. Falling in love with a man would only lead to misery, and feeling sorry for them would result in a lifetime of misfortune.

Hence, she had no sympathy for Brad when he offered to leave the house to let her and Sean stay the night. Nadine believed he was just doing this on a whim. He probably thought she'd always been compliant and agreeable, so he never felt the need to put in any effort, treating her as if she were dispensable.

Now that his "pet" was misbehaving and on the verge of leaving, he realized how lonely he was, so he decided to lure her back and treat her like an amusing pastime once more. Unfortunately for him, Nadine was much more level-headed now. His mind games no longer worked on her.
