Nadine's mood soured as soon as she saw Brad. Fortunately, he was perceptive enough to keep his distance. He had barely said a word to her and whispered to Sean throughout the ride.
After arriving at the entrance to the kindergarten, Nadine chatted with the adorable little Keira. It was impossible not to like such a cute, chubby bundle of joy. No one could keep a straight face in front of her, and it was nearly impossible not to smile.
But as soon as Keira said goodbye and skipped off, the smile on Nadine's face disappeared in an instant. Her face turned cold as she looked at the man standing in her way apathetically. "Mr. Hamilton, how many times must I remind you to stay out of my way?"
Brad had a nasty habit of getting in her way, and it really ticked her off. If he weren't so much stronger than her, she would have already given him a piece of her mind.
It was obvious that Nadine had had enough. Her distaste was written all over her face.
In the past, the proud and arrogant Brad would have thrown a fit right there, showing no consideration for Nadine. But even though she clearly wanted nothing to do with him, the usually high-and-mighty Brad didn't lose his temper.
Instead, he suppressed his anger and said gently, "I'm heading to the hospital to visit my grandfather. Since we're heading to the same destination, let me give you a ride. You won't be able to hail a cab at this hour."
Morning rush hour was in full swing. Nadine noticed none of the passing taxis had their "available" signs turned on, and she grew increasingly frustrated. She couldn't even book a ride through the ride-hailing app.
Realizing that she was running out of time and would be late if she waited any longer, she gritted her teeth and decided to get in Brad's car. Before climbing in, she said through gritted teeth, "Remember, you're the one who offered to give me a ride, so don't expect any favors from me!"
