For some reason, when Nadine saw Brad standing there so calmly, she felt a wave of relief wash over her, and her tension faded away.
Samuel tried his best to win her over, but he didn't receive so much as a glance from her. Embarrassed, he lowered his head and huffed before stepping in front of David to shield him.
David dragged Nadine back with him, pressing the knife to her neck with his left hand while his right arm wrapped tightly around her throat. The pressure left red marks on her pale skin.
Nadine's complexion was milky white to begin with, making the red marks stand out alarmingly. To make matters worse, blood was still trickling from a small cut on her neck, which was concerning to anyone who looked at it.
Brad's heart raced when he noticed that. He was genuinely afraid that David might harm Nadine again. He hurriedly said, "Stop right there! I promise I won't come any closer. I'll stay right here, so please don't hurt Nadine."
No one could tell just how scared he truly was at that moment. Those vivid red marks on her neck filled him with dread and anxiety.
Noticing that Brad was being cooperative, David recognized Nadine's value and smirked. "Relax, Brad. I'm only interested in money, not her life. Once you bring me the four million dollars, I'll let her go. Trust me, I wouldn't want her dead. If she dies, how am I supposed to get the money from you?"
Both the father and son were grinning from ear to ear, acting like they already had the money in hand.
Brad had already arranged for Cameron to draw funds from the company. After hearing that, he responded, "That's fine. As long as Nadine isn't hurt, I'll give you whatever you want. But now that I see she's hurt, that's a different story!"
