Brad was well aware that Nadine wasn't fond of him and could leave at any moment. He was terrified of her walking out, so he didn't dare make a sound. He was as obedient as a child.
Noticing that she was reviewing documents related to heart transplant surgery, he quietly took note of the information and sent it to Cameron via Messenger, asking him to look into it.
While she focused on her materials, Brad leaned back against the bed, quietly admiring the face he had grown to love so much. Why hadn't he realized just how beautiful she was back when they were together?
If he had treated her well six years ago, from the very beginning of their marriage, would their relationship have turned out differently?
The nurse soon came in to check Brad's temperature, confirming that he wasn't running a fever and that his wound wasn't infected. Nadine felt a weight lift off her chest. She turned to Brad and said, "I need to get going now. I'll have your bodyguards come in to keep you company later."
His eyes widened in shock, and his face instantly darkened. "What did you just say? Didn't you say you'd stay with me tonight? Nadine, you can't just go back on your word! I got injured because of you!"
All of a sudden, he wasn't the high-and-mighty man he usually was. He threw a tantrum like a sulky child who couldn't get their hands on their favorite candy. He was whining and fussing just like Sean. In the end, he didn't even care about his dignity anymore.
Looking at his gloomy face, she responded coldly, "Yes, I did say I'd take care of you tonight, but I never said I'd stay the whole night. I know you were hurt for me, and I've been trying to figure out a way to repay you.
"Mr. Hamilton, if what you want is my body, I can let you have me once you have fully recovered. After that, we'll call it even. Does that work for you?"
