Jean walked up to Brad's hospital bed with small steps. Her eyes were brimming with tears as she watched the nurse remove the bandage from his arm and rewrap it. She was so distressed that she couldn't stop herself from crying.

Her porcelain skin and the shape of her face made her look like a childlike doll. She looked so vulnerable when she cried. The nurse couldn't help but feel sorry for Jean when she saw her tears. The nurse was careful with her movements because she was worried that she might frighten Jean.

Brad's wound split open, so the nurse needed to clean and disinfect it again. Without any anesthetic, Brad was in so much pain that he closed his eyes and gritted his teeth. Yet, he didn't forget to say, "Jean, get out! I don't need you here!"

Due to the intense pain, Brad was practically shouting when he spoke. On top of that, his ferocious look was terrifying.

Seeing his bloodshot eyes, Jean couldn't help but burst into tears. "I just want to take care of you. Is that so wrong?"

If she gave up this opportunity, she was afraid that she would lose the chance to stay by Brad's side. She didn't want to give up after coming so far. She refused to leave, regardless of what Brad said.

Brad was in so much pain that he was drenched in cold sweat. He was gripping the hospital bed's handrail with his uninjured left hand. The veins on the back of his hand were bulging, as if they might burst at any moment.

He glared at Jean and yelled, "Get lost! Bodyguards! Take her away and lock her at the Hamilton manor!"

He didn't curse, which was the most patience he could muster. Jean kept testing his limits and finally sparked his rage.

Despite his good looks, his words were cruel, and his cold gaze was devoid of warmth.
