Brad had been lying in the hospital the past few days and during that time, he thought about a lot of things.
Even though thousands of proverbial miles stood between him and Nadine, he still wanted to give it his best shot to win her back. If he genuinely failed to win her back, at least he had tried, and he wouldn't have any regrets in the future.
Nadine glanced at him coldly before turning away, her back to him. "Even if a broken mirror is put back together, the cracks will remain. What's the point of holding on to a false sense of happiness?"
Avery had told her that Brad had locked Jean away. Yet, she had seen Jean come and go freely from the Hamilton manor and Brad's hospital room. If that wasn't favoritism, what was? Hence, she had to turn him down. Her wounded heart could withstand no more pain.
"Brad, I've never asked anything of you before. Can I ask you for just one thing now? Can you divorce me as soon as possible and give me the divorce certificate?" She had always demanded that he divorce her. But this time, she pleaded instead.
Brad inhaled sharply. Her words were like a bucket of ice water, drenching him from head to toe, leaving him chilled to the bone.
He had already imagined what their life would be like after reconciling and how he would win her back. He had built entire scenarios in his head, stories that would fill hundreds of pages.
