Brad couldn't shake the irritation growing inside him as he watched Jean's antics. With his uninjured left hand, he yanked open the collar of his shirt in frustration, his face flushed with anger.

"Don't you realize how annoying you're being right now? Do you seriously want me to call my bodyguards?"

Noticing that he was genuinely furious, Jean took off running, heading straight for the playroom where Nadine and Sean were. As she ran, she sprayed perfume into the air.

Oddly enough, although she was spraying like her life depended on it, the hallway wasn't filled with the scent of perfume. Instead, it had a sharp, pungent odor.

Brad, fearing she'd disturb Nadine and Sean, chased after Jean. But for some reason, he realized that his breathing was growing rapid, and his heart was pounding wildly—way beyond what he could handle.

Jean noticed him staggering toward her, his steps unsteady, and a triumphant smile crept onto her lips. She stopped in her tracks and waited for Brad to charge at her.

The reason she and Evelyn had gone to such lengths to show up tonight wasn't merely to have dinner. Before, in Brad's hospital room, she hadn't been able to get close enough to spray the drug on him, nor had she been able to ensure a large audience would witness what came next.

This was the perfect chance.

Brad had already walked right into her trap. Next, she was going to make sure that the entire Hamilton family witnessed him throwing himself at her.
