Daniel ignored Evelyn's displeasure and continued, "Thirdly, if you agree to the first two conditions, we'll hold a press conference tomorrow. I'll get someone to help you look polished and presentable.
"I'll have the script prepared tonight. Make sure to memorize it well. As long as you perform well, a team of professional doctors will be arranged to treat Jean tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure you wouldn't want to watch your daughter suffer after neglecting her for over 30 years, would you?"
That last sentence hit her where it hurt. Evelyn set aside her initial reluctance and asked cautiously, "What will happen to me after the press conference?"
Daniel didn't respond. He just glanced at her coldly and left. After he left, the door shut firmly behind him, and everything fell silent again.
Once his figure disappeared down the hallway, Gigi peeked out, her eyes red as she stared at the place where her mother was confined, biting her lower lip tightly.
She had never known she had an older sister, and her older sister just happened to be her favorite person. All of a sudden, she felt her world turned upside down.
…
Daniel was a man of his word. He noticed that Evelyn had done well during the press conference. Not only did she read the script without hesitation, but she also didn't falter when answering the reporter's questions. Evelyn carried herself as if she were still the lady of the Hamilton family.
After the press conference, he arranged for a professional medical team to attend to Jean. Evelyn's public statement brought the truth into the open for everyone.
The police also responded, stating they would reopen the investigation to uncover the truth. They assured the public that they would not overlook any wrongdoers and would never wrongfully accuse an innocent person. If Brad turned out to be a victim, they would clear his name.
