Brad loathed Nadine. He despised the fact that she could've deceived him for a lifetime but only chose to do so for six years. He didn't step forward, nor did he listen to anything else she had to say. Instead, he dragged his heavy feet and left the graveyard one step at a time.
That night, he chose to walk home instead of taking a car. The heartache he once felt evaporated in an instant. His father's words rang in his ears, "What isn't yours will eventually leave you, but what is yours, even if separated, will find its way back to you. Sometimes, it's better to let go of the sand that slips through your fingers than to hold onto it tightly."
…
Nadine had no idea Brad was following her. After bawling her eyes out in front of Jack's tombstone, she felt much better. As dawn approached, she left the graveyard and returned to her hospital room.
It was the day Sean and Brad's paternity test results would be revealed, and she was worried that someone might tamper with the results, so she submitted the test with fake names.
Avery noticed that she was in a good mood and couldn't help but tease her, "What if the paternity test results turn out differently than you expect?"
To be honest, while stories of unexpected pregnancies from one-night stands leading to marriages with the biological father weren't unheard of, they were quite rare. If Brad really was Sean's biological father, why didn't they share a stronger bond?
Nadine lifted her gaze lazily and smiled. "So be it, then. I can only lead a horse to water. I can't make him drink, you know? If Brad isn't Sean's biological father, I'll just move on."
