Even in the face of Avery's biting sarcasm, Gigi showed no signs of anger. She simply pinched her fingertips in silence.
Gigi, who had always been spoiled by Evelyn, never treated people with much respect. If she disliked someone, she'd have no qualms about making their life miserable. Yet here she was, quietly listening to Avery's biting remarks. It was unlike her.
Perhaps sensing Nadine's scrutinizing gaze, Gigi lifted her head slightly and looked over at her. "I know I've messed up in the past, Nadine. It was all my fault.
"You have every right to reprimand or even hit me, but you haven't said a word, and Ms. Swift only threw a few jabs at me. You're both far more forgiving than I deserve. Ms. Swift, Nadine isn't great with words. Could you please reprimand me on her behalf?"
Nadine was flabbergasted. When had Gigi become so mature?
She wasn't the only one surprised—Avery also found it suspicious. She grabbed Nadine's hand and scratched the back of it, whispering, "Something's definitely off. I'll take Sean home first, so you can deal with her. If you need backup, call me, and I'll be here in a heartbeat!"
Sean wasn't particularly fond of his aunt and merely greeted her softly. "Aunt Gigi." He then walked away without a backward glance.
The only reason the boy greeted her was out of respect, and Gigi knew that. She pouted before continuing, "I'm really sorry, Nadine!"
