Even though it was the weekend, Brad didn't have a day off. Lately, with everything going on in the Hamilton household, he rarely had time to breathe.
When Brad received messages from the teacher via WhatsApp and SMS, he made a special effort to set aside some time to be here with Sean. And yet, Nadine's attitude was nothing short of baffling.
Brad couldn't understand what she was making a fuss about. Maybe he shouldn't have given her a chance. She didn't know how to appreciate kindness.
If it weren't for Sean's sake, Brad would've walked out long ago.
Seeing that Nadine still looked like she was about to refuse, he threw out, "You claim to love Sean, yet you're unwilling to join him in a family event. Is that what you call love?"
Sure enough, as soon as he said it, Nadine fell silent. She didn't refuse, but she didn't keep that stern look anymore.
Nadine fired back at him, nearly hissing. "It's freezing out. Why don't you cover yourself with dirt and stop popping up everywhere."
She had been in a good mood initially. After all, this was a family event, and she wanted to enjoy it with Sean. But Brad's appearance soured her mood and unleashed her urges to insult him.
Brad was asking for it, wasn't he? That jerk. Fine, Nadine would give him what he wanted. She wasn't scared of a little verbal sparring.
Rather than getting angry, Brad seemed to be in an even better mood. He'd thought Nadine would keep up her silent treatment. But here she was, not only talking to him but also saying a lot. Deep down, he figured she still couldn't let go of him.
