Chapter 179
Sophia was swamped with work, too busy to even make token appearances at the hospital. Taking advantage of the school break hover a cha started, she and Wilbur drafted a plan to acquire Dante’s company.
Wilbur: [Ms. Chandler, the Lynn family is making desperate cuts to survive. While bankruptcy is only a matter of time, even in decline, they’re end a level to be reckoned with.]
Wilbur (We’re not the only ones after this prize. Other established players are circling it too. Our company is just starting out. This first investment could make or break us. We really shouldn’t be taking unnecessary risks.]
Wilbur thought Sophia would drop the idea, but to his surprise, she shot back without hesitation.
Sophia: [You’re right. I’ll send you Ciara
contact info in a minute. Go talk to her.]
Wilbur was stunned for a moment. In his aithe immediately called Sophia and asked, “Ms. Chandler, what exactly do you mean by sending me to
Ciara?”
Sophia pulled the phone away with a grimace. “Keep it down, will you?” she complained.
Wilbur said hastily, “Sorry, I just got a bit carried away.”
In Wilbur’s eyes, Ciara was a formidable woman, decisive in action and a true strategist, always in control.
The Sampson family played dirty first, and Ciara swiftly countered. She had them thrown into jail, bankrupted their business, and took over their entire empire.
Wilbur was completely blown away by this masterful counterattack.
Sophia didn’t get why Wilbur was so worked up, but she answered anyway, “We secured our current office space from Ciara. I’ll give her a heads–up. Go discuss the Lynn family matter with her.”
Wilbur composed himself and asked cautiously, “Do you know Ciara?”
Sophia’s tone was cold. “None of your business. Don’t pry.”
With that, Sophia hung up and texted Ciara: [Interested in the Lynn family?]
After two grueling months, Ciara had finally completed the full acquisition of the Sampson Group. Before Ciara could even catch her breath, a message
arrived.,
Ciara’s breath caught. [You’ve set your sights on the Lynn family?]
Sophia replied: [Correct.]
Ciara was ambitious, a total workaholic. Of course, she was interested in expanding the Kent family’s business empire. But she hesitated.
Ciara: [I’ve just taken over the Sampson family. There’s no way I can handle the Lynn family by myself.]
As Sophia read the reply, a smirk played on her lips. [As long as you’re interested, that’s all I need to hear. I’ll have someone reach out to you,] she replie confidently.
After sending Ciara’s contact to Wilbur, Sophia left it at that.
A notification chimed on Sophia’s phone–a bank alert. Evander’s secretary had wired 3 million dollars, labeled as “for the child“.
Standing on the dorm balcony, Sophia finally allowed herself a rare moment of peace.

Leaning against the railing, she let the morning sun warm her face so she surveyed Jelasburg University A gentle breeze playoël satta in she savored this briet, blissful tranquility..
It was funny after nine lifetimes, she’d never truly enjoyed college life.
On the very day of the orientation ceremony, Sophia received a call from Jonathan summoning her to the hospital.
Sophia arrived at the hospital and cut straight to the chase. “Jonathan, did you summon me here to give me a reward?”
Jonathan took a deep breath, telling himself not to stoop to her level. Just then, Cassius walked into the room.
Sophia eyed Jonathan with playful curiosity as he cleared his throat awkwardly. “Sophia, Cassius wants to talk to you about something
Sophia smirked. “So, you two finally buried the hatchet?”
Sophia wasn’t surprised at all. In business, there were no permanent enemies–just temporary allies when the price was right.
Jonathan shot her a strained glare. “This is all your fault. If you hadn’t been running your mouth, we wouldn’t be in this mess now.”
Sophia sneered, “Jonathan, have I been too nice lately? Don’t flatter yourself.”
Jonathan choked on his words. Not wanting to embarrass himself in front of others, he swallowed his frustration and dropped the subject.
Cassius remained silent, his eyes fixed on Sophia, sizing her up. Sophia stood tall, meeting his gaze without inching. “Cassius, if you keep staring at me like that, I might just have to call the cops.”
Cassius’s face darkened instantly. “Sophia, where is Rose?”
Sophia feigned shock and indignation. “No way. You don’t actually think I kidnapped your daughter, do you? Watch your words, or I’ll sue you for defamation.”
Cassius’s face darkened further. Seeing this, Jonathan composed himself, feeling an unexpected sense of satisfaction. As long as he wasn’t the one being targeted, he could finally relax.
“Sophia,” Jonathan said gently, trying to smooth things over, “Cassius didn’t mean it that way. He’s just checking if you know where Rose went. If you do please tell him so he won’t worry.”
Sophia rolled her eyes dramatically. “It’s not like I’m the one hiding her. How would I know where she is? Rose is his own daughter, and he’s coming to question me as if I’m the kidnapper here or something.”
Jonathan pressed again. “Are you sure you really don’t know?”
—Sophia was about to say, “I don’t know.”
Jonathan interrupted, “Didn’t you say you wanted a reward? If you know, I’ll have my secretary wire you the bonus right away.”
Sophia scoffed disdainfully, “How much are we talking here?”
Jonathan replied, “300 thousand dollars.”
Sophia rolled her eyes. “That little? No way.”
