Kiran strode into the police station with an air of authority that couldn't be ignored. The officers, intimidated, kept their distance, barely daring to breathe, lest they incur his wrath.
"Mr. Angelo, it's the fault of my subordinates. They've caused trouble for you," the Chief himself stepped forward, offering Kiran a seat and a steaming cup of tea.
"You had one job, and you botched it," Kiran remarked, settling into the chair. His voice held a playful edge, but the coldness in his eyes was enough to chill anyone to the bone.
"Yes, yes, my men were careless. I'll make sure they face the music," the Chief stammered.
"No need," Kiran said smoothly. "I've already dealt with him."
The Chief's head snapped up. "Dealt with... as in, killed?"
Everyone in the station knew the Chief's nephew was on the force. The room's temperature seemed to plummet.
"Disobedient people can't stick around. Useless ones, either. Wouldn't you agree?" Kiran's words carried a clear threat.
"I want all of Colby's overseas assets. If you can't manage it in ten days, you might as well clear your desk," Kiran stated, watching the Chief sweat bullets.
As Kiran drew closer, the Chief looked at him like he was staring down the Grim Reaper.
"Mr. Angelo... those are Colby's properties. Ten days is really quite short..."
"Too long, you say? Fine, make it five."
"Mr. Angelo!" Panic was etched on the Chief's face. Five days to secure Colby's overseas empire? It was absurd.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
