William, too, broke out in cold sweat. Has Colton found out the truth?
If there was a complete surveillance recording, it would definitely have recorded down the fact that I had swapped seats with Madeline.
Noticing that William began to panic, Colton decided not to go any further, instead exerting some pressure on William by saying, "Given that you are Nicole's father, I can spare your life, but my grandmother cannot die in vain. You're on your own now."
When William heard this, he became even more terrified and moved closer to Colton to explain "I… President Gardner… It was really not my doing."
Colton's patience wore thin as he watched William continue to conceal the truth. With his eyes narrowed, Colton waved his hands and stated, "Wait for the police summons." With that, he turned around and left.
Confronted with Colton's insistence, William did not dare to say anything in objection. Hence, he could only grab Nicole's arm and plead, "You must believe me, Nicole. It was your mother who took the wheel when that incident happened. She has been gone for so many years…"
Nicole, on the other hand, had remained silent since she entered. She too realized that William indeed was panicking when she felt his grip on her arm.
She mercilessly yanked her hand away from William's grip and stared at him, her gaze haughty. "You know what you did. Stop acting pitiful now."
She then left with Colton right after her words.
When William saw both of them leaving, he collapsed to the floor.
Both Queenie and Lydia both knew the truth. After witnessing what had happened earlier, both of them knew that William was at a dead end now.
Lydia took a glance at Queenie and couldn't help but sigh. "You're too silly, Queenie!"
Queenie, who was standing nearby, had her entire body frozen. She had never expected to shoot herself in the foot in such a way and put herself in such a dire situation.
Trembling, she raised her head to look at Lydia, and slowly asked, "What should I do now, Mom? If Colton discovers the truth that my father was the one who killed Old Mrs. Gardner, I will never have the opportunity to be with Colton again!"
Lydia, too, was at a loss for what to do and could only clutch her hands tightly. Suddenly, she remembered Bryan's interest in Queenie and said softly, "We don't have to pin all of our hopes on Colton, Queenie. You have President Kohlberg."
However, Queenie refused to be with Bryan. Colton was the person she was in love with and wished to be with. If she got together with Bryan, she could only be a mistress who could never see the light of the day.
"I don't want it, Mom. You have to help me to be with Colton. I don't want to be involved with Bryan!"
Just as they were both speaking, William shouted, "That's enough!"
Hearing that, Queenie immediately kept quiet, while William turned his head to look at both Queenie and Lydia with an angry expression. "Can't you both just shut up? Stop talking if you don't have a solution for me!"
Meanwhile, after Nicole left with Colton, she inquired, "Did you notice that Queenie seems to be acting strangely when she was inside just now?"
Colton halted his steps when he heard Nicole's words. Then, he turned around and looked at her with a smile. "Luckily you're not stupid enough to let that go unnoticed."
Nicole couldn't help but roll her eyes in response. Of course I'm not stupid!
Then, Colton went on, "Queenie was obviously panicking, showing that she knows the inside story. Though William seems to have given himself away, we need something more drastic to force the entire truth out of him."
Nicole raised her gaze and asked with a smile, "What idea do you have, then?"
"Just as I said earlier, let him be remanded by the police," he replied, smiling.
However, Nicole knew that Colton's earlier words were a ruse to fool William, and that they had no surveillance footage. Thus, she inquired, doubtfully, "But we don't have any evidence that William was the perpetrator. How are we going to accomplish this?"
In response, Colton curved the corners of his lips and said casually, "I know William owes a lot of debts, and has even sold counterfeit goods in the past. We can easily send him to the lockup just by using these two offenses."

What a waste of reading! This could have been an excellent novel if it hadn't skipped chapters after 531 and then everything is garbled. Get your act together if you still want a reading audience!!!...
