Kylie wasn't sure if it was because Samuel had been ridiculing her for far too long. But today was the first time he was doing something like this. Despite his nasty attitude and less-than-gentle tone, she couldn't help but notice that something was blossoming in her heart.

Kylie couldn't bring herself to be cold-hearted to Samuel. All he had to do was show her a sliver of warmth, and her heart would immediately soften and turn her into a mess.

This was the first time she'd addressed Samuel by his first name.

"Hmm?" Samuel frowned.

However, instead of feeling annoyed by the address, he even found it to feel familiar. It felt like he had heard it before.

Hesitantly, Kylie said, "If you can't treat me well forever, you should be thorough with it and not show me any kindness at all.

"I've been alone for far too long. I know how to cover up my vulnerabilities and take care of myself. Don't give me hope only to snuff it out with your own hands later on down the road. That would make you the scummiest scumbag ever."

Kylie blinked, her eyes big and bright. A fleeting light glinted in them, which gave her a bewitching look.

Samuel was dazed for a brief moment, but he soon narrowed his eyes, and his expression quickly turned cold, mocking, and distant.

He sarcastically said, "I'm not treating you differently. I'm just making sure nothing happens to you before Grandpa is cured.

"You're having period pains, not mutilated limbs. It won't affect you in taking care of yourself." Then, he put the bowl of soup down and added, "Eat it yourself."

So, Kylie bore with her abdominal pain and slowly sipped the soup.

Samuel then proceeded to recklessly put various food onto her plate and even peeled off several shrimps for her. He barked, "Finish them."
