Meanwhile, inside the speeding Bentley, Samuel leaned against the seat as his body burned with the effects of the drug.

It felt like a dull blade was slicing through him, slow and torturous. His white dress shirt was unbuttoned at the top, revealing his sculpted chest.

Logan stole a glance at Samuel through the rearview mirror. His heart tightened as he said, "Mr. Vance, this isn't something that can just wear off. Should we stop by a hospital first?"

"No. Just drive faster," Samuel simply replied.

"Yes." Logan immediately shifted gears and floored the gas.

By the time they arrived at Starlight Summit, it was already late.

The mountain roads were too steep for cars, so Samuel had no choice but to get out and continue on foot.

He climbed the stone steps leading to the sanctuary while Logan followed closely behind, lighting the way with a flashlight.

What should have been a 30-minute trek stretched to nearly an hour due to the darkness and the slippery paths left behind by the earlier rain.

The surroundings were pitch black too, and the only sounds came from chirping insects.

"Knock," Samuel ordered.

"Yes, Mr. Vance." Logan stepped forward and pounded on the heavy wooden doors.

It took a while before someone finally answered the door.

There, a young man in traditional robes yawned as he opened the door, his face groggy with sleep. "The sanctuary is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We don't accept visitors at this hour."

"We're not visitors," Logan responded. "We're here for Ms. Clark."

Behind him, Samuel stood with his usual ice-cold expression, his imposing aura making it hard for anyone to even breathe.
