Arthur Lawson had always been accustomed to a life of extravagance. He only ever rode in Bentleys, so when did he stoop to driving such a subpar car?
I stood at the entrance, crossing my arms over my chest as I watched him hastily unbuckling his seatbelt and dashing toward me.
"Mr. Lawson, what's the rush? Are you perhaps looking for me?" I asked, feigning ignorance.
Noticing his flustered expression, I couldn't help but laugh. "Is this about Jared?"
"Mr. Joplin, can we talk inside?"
Though Arthur had always been respectful toward me, he had never acted so servile as he did today. His family business was one of the top companies in the industry, so there was no need for him to bow and scrape.
Watching this once-proud man plead, I suddenly understood why some people enjoyed acquiring small companies. This was the reason.
"Mr. Lawson, what is it?"
"Mr. Joplin, can you spare Jared for the sake of my acquaintance with your father?"
"You're aware of Jared's relationship with my ex-wife, aren't you?" I deflected, not answering his question.
As Jared's father, Arthur should've been aware of his son's relationship with Yvonne. Their intentions were as clear as day.
I might've divorced Yvonne, but she was still the mother of my children. Since we parted on friendly terms, she had also gained a significant amount of assets.
Coming from a prestigious family, Jared chose to go after a divorced ex-classmate with children instead of pursuing someone of equal standing. Was he out of his mind?
"You're practically slapping your schemes in my face," I bellowed, slapping my hand on the desk.
Watching Arthur flinch at the loud noise, I thought about how ironic this situation was.
"Now, you're scared, huh?"
He should've known that I was relentless. He shouldn't have provoked me in the first place.
"Mr. Joplin, it's indeed my son's fault," Arthur's voice quavered. "You can do whatever you want to him, and I'll also have him apologize to you. I can even make him kneel before you. But please spare him!"
