The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 136

I was just about to berate Yvonne for losing her temper at the children when I heard Jonas' question.

I immediately knew what they were just talking about. Yvonne felt that Jonas was not close to her. She was worried, so she thought I was badmouthing her behind her back.

"Yvonne, you're underestimating everything. You never visit. You've never cared. You've never even made a phone call. Now, you feel that Jonas isn't close to you, so you're worried. Do you think the entire world revolves around you?"

"I…"

Looking at Yvonne speechless made me nauseous.

"You want everything, but be careful, you might lose everything in the end," I said before leaving.

I held Jonas' hand and could feel him trembling. I was selfish. I didn't want Jonas to hear Yvonne's answer because I knew that she wouldn't say anything nice. Other than being busy at work, what other excuses could she come up with? As for whether she was truly busy, everyone knew clearly.

I let go of Jonas' hand under the shade and let the brothers mingle together.

Xavier was clearly feeling uneasy. He awkwardly tugged the hem of his shirt.

"Daddy, why did you bring me here? I want to play."

"We'll play in a while. I have something to say to you two." My seriousness successfully stunned the two children.

I looked at Xavier, who was pouting his lips in unhappiness.

"Remember, when your parents are gone, you two will be each other's only family. I don't want the two of you to fight because of us. You hear me?"

No matter how my relationship with Yvonne was, I wanted them to always be close to each other.

Jonas was the first to nod. He made a solemn promise. "I understand. I'll love and care for Xavier."

A child was always adorable when they looked serious. I felt the exhaustion in my body completely melt away instantly.

I turned to look at Xavier. "What about you?"

"Who would want to—"

"Watch your tone. If you make me unhappy, I won't take you on any more rides."
