The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 139

I couldn't be bothered with how harsh I sounded or how many people were looking at me.

I hung up and called Murphy. "Come to the amusement park. Jonas is missing."

When I met up with Yvonne, I looked at her and could no longer hold back my anger. "What kind of mother are you? Jonas is still so young. How could you have let him wait for you there alone?"

How important was that meeting? Could she not have waited for me to return before going for that meeting?

Xavier, who had been asking to go on more rides, suddenly realized the gravity of the situation. I felt him slowly retract his hand away from me.

"What are you doing? Are you trying to go missing as well?" I was so angry that I forgot that Xavier was just a nine-year-old boy. I forgot that he was completely innocent.

Xavier's lips quivered as his face flushed. He was clearly frightened. He sniffled and held back tears. "Daddy, I'm sorry."

This was the first time he so obediently called me "Daddy". Even when he was sick, there had still been a hint of defiance in his voice.

Yvonne frowned and rebuked, "Why are you yelling at Xavier? He's just a child."

"So, you know that they're just children?"

Jonas had been missing for more than half an hour.

I blamed myself. At the thought of him wandering around the amusement park, I wanted to kick every other person out.

I knew how murderous I looked at that moment, but I had no intention of hiding it.

"Yvonne, you listen up. I don't care what you think of Jonas, but he's the most important thing to me. If something happens to him, I won't ever let you off the hook."

I handed Xavier to her and left.

"Cole…" Yvonne said with a trembling voice. I could hear the pain in her voice, but what was the point?

"Jonas? Jonas?"
