"Look at you. Just because you're with Cole, you think you're some sort of heiress now?" Chad's eyes burned with hatred as he grabbed Lorraine's hand forcefully.
"What are you doing? Let go of me." Lorraine tried to back away, but his grip was unyielding.
"Lorraine, your dear husband has paid me to frame Dad, all so you can be free. Now, tell me, should I accept the deal or not?" With a cigarette hanging from his mouth, Chad spoke as he casually shook his leg.
"You're desperate for money, aren't you?" Lorraine saw right through him. He had come to her just to ease his own guilt. "You're the one selling out Dad for money. Why are you coming to me?"
"Don't you care?" Chad looked at her in surprise. In his recollection, Lorraine had always been a filial daughter. How could she possibly not care?
"Cole wants me to send Dad to jail."
He smirked, adding, "But it makes sense, doesn't it? After all, once he's locked up, you'll be free,"
He slowly approached her. "Lorraine, you'd better think carefully. After all, he's your father."
Chad was truly great at guilt-tripping others.
"Aren't you the one who's getting paid? What does it have to do with me?"
Lorraine wasn't the one taking my money.
Chad turned his back to her, pausing just before the door. "I'm doing all of this because of you, Lorraine."
Before leaving, he added, "I'm going to accept the money. But before that, don't you want to see Dad? It might be the last time you ever see him."
As Chad spoke, he glanced at Lorraine from the corners of his eyes. Noticing her stiffen, he knew she had taken the bait.
After exiting the studio, Chad rounded the corner and stopped in front of a red sedan.
"Did you tell her?" a voice asked from inside.
Gerald unlocked the passenger seat door and signaled for Chad to get in. He held a cigarette in his other hand.
"Yes. But I'm not sure if she'll come."
He glanced sideways at Gerald, unable to understand why he had to go through all this trouble.
"Wouldn't it be easier if you just accept Cole's money? Why go through all this hassle?"
