"Who the heck are you?" Chad huffed, propping a leg up on the table defiantly.
"Get Cole here now." His face was clouded with impatience, unhappy that he had come all the way only to hear that I was busy.
His expression darkened as he narrowed his eyes. "Is this what you call sincerity?"
"Please get this right, Mr. Sommerton. You're the one who needs our money. We can easily deal with your father with or without your help," said Murphy.
Chad's face fell, and he thought that Murphy was right. I didn't have to partner with him.
He then remembered what Gerald once said about me being cold-blooded and ruthless. He was right. If I couldn't use him, I would immediately change to someone else.
Chad straightened up and readjusted his stance. "Give me the three million dollars first, then."
He reckoned that I probably wouldn't give him that much money based on my attitude toward him.
"I think you're mistaken, Mr. Sommerton. Mr. Joplin is only giving you three million dollars."
Chad's eyes widened, and his nostrils flared in rage. He pressed down into the table hard. He was on the verge of standing up and roaring in anger when Murphy added, "In total."
"It was supposed to be five million dollars." Chad frowned. He didn't remember this wrongly.
It was supposed to be five million dollars, so how did it suddenly become only three million dollars?
"That was before this. Once you've missed some things, you miss them." Murphy whipped the agreement out and added, "If you're agreeable to this, you can sign here."
Chad took the pen from Murphy and said, "This is my father you people are wanting me to betray. How can you only give me this small amount of money?"
"You can still back out." Murphy looked at him coldly. It didn't matter to him if Chad signed it or not.
Chad's fingers trembled. The pen in his hand left a few black dots on the paper.
Murphy was in no rush. He merely sat in front of Chad, waiting patiently for him.
"Can't you give a little more?" Chad pleaded.
"Mr. Sommerton, we're only giving you this amount because of Mrs. Joplin."
Murphy's phone rang the moment he was done speaking. He glanced at the name flashing on his phone screen and said, "Mr. Joplin is pressing me. Please decide quickly."
