The woman was blatantly finding an excuse for her greed.
"In that case, you should head home and wait."
Why should I pay for something like this?
Perhaps because she realized that I was getting mad, she looked a little grim and said in a softer tone, "I'm just asking for the compensation that I deserve." She looked at me sheepishly.
I could see the conflicting emotions on her face. I pointed at Yvonne behind her. "You should look for her—not me."
I was not going to pay a single cent.
I was about to leave, but she grabbed my hand. Someone had started a live stream, broadcasting everything I said to them online.
"You can't even take responsibility for your own children, yet you call yourselves adults?" I looked at them, annoyed.
"Don't think that just because you're a general manager, you can do anything you like. We're in this situation because of you two."
Everyone had sent their children to this school because of Yvonne's live streams. Now that a scandal had broken out in the school, Yvonne had to bear the responsibility.
"Didn't you say you treat your wife the best? Are you trying to escape responsibility now?"
"I only have one wife, and her name is Lorraine Sommerton."
Yvonne looked at me in a daze with tears welling up in her eyes. She walked over to me. "Cole." She sounded pitiful. Jared would have caved in immediately seeing her in this way.
"Don't talk to me in that tone. I have nothing to do with you."
She bit her lower lip, looking guilty. "I don't have much money anymore. All of my money was used to hire a lawyer."
"Are you going to court?"
I had completely forgotten about the custody case with her until she said that she had used up all of her money to hire a lawyer to get Xavier back. At that moment, I realized she had set me up.
