Fabian thought he could use this against me? How naive.

I had a serious expression on my face that allowed no compromise. He stared at me for a few seconds before he sneered, "You don't trust me that much?"

I didn't say anything, but the look on my face made what I thought abundantly clear.

He chuckled slightly before he sat down in front of me. He tilted his chin up and said, "Go ahead and read through it. Feel free to point out anything that's wrong."

He spread his hands in a nonchalant manner, acting like I was making a big deal out of nothing.

After half an hour, I finally put the document down.

He said, "How is it? There are no problems, right? I told you—since I'm going to do business, I'll do it with 100% of my sincerity."

I answered, "There's nothing wrong with the contract, but I'm not the only decision-maker in the company. There's still my older brother."

I subtly rejected him, "As for the decision, we'll need to run it by the board of directors as well."

"Are you playing games with me?" Fabian's expression darkened. "Cole, you'd better appreciate it while I'm still playing nice. Do you think I absolutely need this deal with you?"

"It's better if you don't." I stared at him coldly. I honestly wished he would abandon the idea of working with me.

I slammed the cup in my hand down. "If you're willing to, then wait for a bit. Don't worry, I won't keep you waiting for too long."

Fabian didn't answer immediately. Instead, he started to frown in thought.

As I was talking to him, Murphy had already scoped out the villa's layout. It didn't seem like Fabian was the person behind Xavier's kidnapping attempt.

"When can I expect my answer?" Fabian asked.

"When you catch that person, you can see it as your down payment." I leaned forward, lowering my voice as I met his gaze.

"Mr. Zahn, I truly enjoy working with you." There was no way he didn't understand my implications after all of that.

Fabian let out a quiet laugh. "Mr. Joplin, just wait for the good news from me!"
