The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 246

"Are you sure our information is correct?" I asked.

Did Fabian really stay in such a quiet place?

Murphy double-checked it on his phone. "This is the place."

He was surprised when he saw it too. Fabian wasn't someone who liked peace and quiet. He loved throwing parties and inviting his friends to hang out. This place seemed like a quiet place for retirement. It was not his style at all.

Murphy and I followed the address Fabian had given me. When we arrived at the villa, he saw that it looked neglected from the outside.

"Go take a look." I motioned for Murphy to knock on the door. The door was opened by the man from yesterday.

He widened his eyes in mild surprise when he saw me standing outside. He quickly composed himself, "Mr. Joplin, why are you here?"

"Obviously, I'm here to discuss business with Mr. Zahn," I answered truthfully.

"Please wait a moment," he replied.

About ten minutes later, he returned. He nodded respectfully and said, "This way, please."

He led me to the backyard, where there was a massive flower garden. Anyone who liked flowers would be overjoyed to see that place. The moment I stepped inside, I heard a familiar voice. "Mr. Joplin."

Fabian's calmness almost made me doubt my suspicions.

He approached me, gesturing at the flowers and plants around him as he said, "Aren't they beautiful? I grew them all myself."

"Was it you who sent that woman yesterday?" I cut straight to the point. He clearly never expected me to be so angry.

He chuckled softly and tried to ease the awkward atmosphere. "That was just a gift from me. Do you like it?"

"I'm already married," I reminded him.
