The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 264

Joplin Group's stocks had been steadily declining. Without Xavier's help to stabilize it, the situation had worsened significantly. I felt utterly exhausted as I stared at the screen.

"What did Fabian say?" I asked.

His side had gone completely silent about the partnership. It was hard to tell what their intentions were.

Murphy handed me a document from Fabian. "He says he wants to observe the situation a little longer."

"Observe the situation? He just wants to see if my stocks can recover," I retorted.

It was just an excuse.

But it was better this way. If Fabian decided to back out of working with me, it would save me a lot of trouble.

"Mr. Joplin, there are a lot of reporters outside," Murphy suddenly said. My hand faltered slightly as I signed a document, leaving a black streak on the page.

"Where?" I asked.

Murphy motioned for me to look out the window. Sure enough, there was a crowd of reporters waiting outside.

"They've probably been waiting here since yesterday," Murphy added.

Grandma had made her stance clear. She didn't want to acknowledge Xavier. There was no way the media would be able to resist that kind of news.

Even though I said what I did before, I never truly intended to cut ties with Xavier. He was my son no matter what.

"Tell security to get rid of them," I ordered.

Xavier was constantly by Yvonne's side now, and the media watched his every move. Anything I said could potentially cause him trouble. At the very least, his position in the entertainment industry was relatively stable for now.

I planned to finish dealing with the company's issues before having a proper talk with Xavier.

"Mr. Joplin, there are too many of them. Security can't clear them out," Murphy said.

"Then call the police." I gestured to Lorraine and signaled that we'd leave through the back door.
