No matter how bad Xavier's behavior had become, there was no way he would let them harm Jonas to this extent. Even though I was furious, I still knew my son well enough.

"From the looks of it, that seems to be the case. But some of them are claiming that they didn't mean any harm. They had just wanted to scare Jonas a little," Yvonne said.

But after school was over, everyone forgot that they had left Jonas behind. That was what led to this tragedy.

"Do you believe that?" I asked.

A child's malice needed no reason. They didn't care about the consequences or how terrified the victim might feel. They just acted out what they wanted to do. They were truly sinister.

So, I didn't believe anything they said.

"There's surveillance evidence. Nothing they say will make a difference," I said with a heavy tone. I wasn't going to just leave this be.

Lorraine looked at me anxiously and couldn't help but warn me, "Cole, their parents are all wealthy and influential. It'd be better if we don't provoke them."

"Am I supposed to be afraid?" I shot back.

Lorraine said, "I'm not telling you to let it go. I'm just saying that it might actually be a misunderstanding."

"That's impossible." They might even have planned this for a long time.

I didn't care who their parents were. Even a god wouldn't be able to stop me.

When we arrived at the school, the students and parents were all gathered at the entrance. They were definitely all wealthy and influential. I had even met a few of them in the business world.

"Mr. Joplin," they greeted me the moment they saw me.

"Mr. Joplin, has business been going well lately?" someone asked.

It seemed like they were trying to remind me of my situation.
