The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 269

The crowd exploded into screams the moment Xavier appeared. Some of them even followed him closely.

"Xavier, Xavier, look at me! I really love you."

It was evident how much they seemed to adore him. Xavier seemed to already be used to their actions as well, since he was casually greeting them.

"Mr. Joplin, should we go over?" Murphy asked.

The Joplin family had forbidden Xavier from continuing with this, but they couldn't control him. After all, Xavier was Yvonne's son.

"There's no need. I doubt he wants to see me anyway," I replied.

The way Xavier was acting made it clear that he didn't want to see me anymore, so why would I intentionally make things difficult?

Although, no one wished for him to walk a more conventional path than I did.

As we headed back, people continued to shout Xavier's name. Watching Xavier being fawned over by his fans from the rear-view mirror left me with mixed emotions. There wasn't anyone who didn't like admiration and praise.

Xavier was just a child. He had already been completely captivated by those in the entertainment industry to the point where he couldn't tell right from wrong.

Murphy was silent the whole way back, and the car was incredibly silent inside.

Suddenly, a man in tattered clothes darted out of the road and blocked my car.

"Give me back my son! Return my son to me!" the man screamed hysterically. He was clearly out of his mind. I immediately had Murphy step on the gas. I refused to believe he could actually stop the car.

As the car sped past him, the man stood frozen in fear.

At the school, Xavier was a bit exasperated at how his fans were acting, but he still greeted everyone patiently. He didn't want to leave anyone out.

The man who had been acting crazily outside earlier was now staring at Xavier with an eerie smile.
