The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 287

"That has nothing to do with you," Lorraine snapped impatiently.

Chris was clearly here to stir up trouble. Lorraine refused to believe that he genuinely had any interest of that sort toward her. His words weren't worth listening to.

"Do you really like Cole that much?" Chris reached out to touch Lorraine's cheek, but she slapped his hand away.

"Chris, don't forget that I'm your sister-in-law," Lorraine's expression instantly darkened. How did she never realize how much of a fiend this guy was before?

Chris pouted and let out a nonchalant whistle.

"Cole isn't even here right now, so why are you still pretending…"

"Chris, it looks like you've been having quite a lot of fun while I was away," I suddenly said from behind them. Lorraine immediately took a few steps away from Chris.

"Cole, you'd better keep an eye on your younger brother. It won't do if he's constantly thinking about his sister-in-law," Lorraine said.

Chris froze up at that moment. Even though he was the company's general manager, he still felt a wave of fear at the sight of me.

It was as if I wasn't his brother but his natural enemy.

He stood rooted to the spot and only snapped out of his daze when I walked up to him.

"Y-You… W-Why are you here?" he stammered out.

"Chris, I may have left the company, but are there any rules that say that I can't come back here?" I replied.

As I looked at him, his stunned expression felt quite amusing. So, this was the general manager Grandma recommended?

She valued him so much, but she probably didn't realize that he turned into a timid little mouse at the sight of me.

"Chris, do your best. I'm looking forward to seeing how you'll take the Joplin family to greater heights." I patted him on the shoulder with some force, and his legs shook a bit.
