The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 288

"Do you really want me to come back?" I asked as I looked at Chris. If he really did want me to come back, then he wasn't asking in the right tone.

Chris hadn't expected me to question him so directly and was stunned for a moment.

"If you really want to come back, wouldn't Grandma have to approve of it first?" he asked cautiously.

"Just look at how scared you look. How pathetic," I sneered at him.

Then, I waved to Lorraine. "Pack up your things. We're leaving."

Lorraine looked confused. "I'm still working—"

I interrupted her before she could refuse me, "You're not working here anymore. We're going to start our own business."

Since I was no longer here, there was naturally no reason for Lorraine to continue being here.

When Chris noticed that I was going to take her away, he stepped aside to let us pass.

He had probably wanted Lorraine gone for a while. In fact, his visit today might have been to force her out.

When I figured out his intentions, I was just about to say something when I realized that Chris' gaze had been fixed on Lorraine the whole time.

"Cole, Lorraine has been doing well here. Why are you taking her away so suddenly?" he asked.

At that moment, I realized that he was actually interested in Lorraine.

"Chris, what's this? You aren't happy just getting my position? You want my wife as well?" I asked. With a cold look on my face, I placed my hand on his shoulder before squeezing it tightly.

He understood my warning immediately.

A few minutes later, Lorraine had finished packing and stood by my side.

I held her hand and sneered at Chris, "Forget about it. Don't covet what's not yours."

Chris' expression soured at my words. He watched as I left with Lorraine with his fists clenched tightly.
