Yvonne pushed Lorraine back, causing Lorraine to stumble and crash into the cabinet behind her.
Lorraine winced in pain. One of her hands was clutching her lower abdomen, and her face seemed to have been drained of all color. Yvonne froze in a panic before she turned away, trying to avoid looking at Lorraine.
"Stop pretending. Don't think I can't tell that you're doing this on purpose," Yvonne said as her voice trembled with anxiety.
Lorraine reached out weakly, trying to search for something to hold onto. I immediately rushed over and scooped her into my arms.
"Doctor! Doctor!" I shouted.
Her pain didn't seem feigned at all. It was definitely real.
Lorraine had never been so vulnerable in front of me before. I could feel the anxiety surge up in my heart.
"Everyone has to wait here." I looked at Yvonne. No one was allowed to leave without my permission.
Yvonne leaned against the wall as she trembled slightly with fear.
Mom immediately rushed over when she got the news. Jonas was trailing closely behind her with a worried look on his face as well.
Jonas asked, "Daddy, how is Ms. Sommerton?"
Lorraine had always treated Jonas well. After what happened to Lorraine, Jonas was too anxious to even eat.
Mom tightly held Jonas' hand with a tense expression.
"How did this happen?" Mom asked.
I hadn't been able to explain everything clearly over the phone. As she glanced at Xavier and Yvonne, whose head was lowered with guilt, she immediately understood what happened.
