The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 317

The day we opened the entertainment company, Chris accompanied Grandma to attend the opening ceremony at our office.

If Lorraine had not told me, I would not have noticed them.

"Grandma, why don't you come in?"

I knew that Chris was doing it on purpose. He knew better than anyone how much Grandma hated the entertainment industry, yet he still brought her over. He was clearly trying to cause trouble.

I handed the scissors to her. "Do you want to cut the ribbon?"

"What a piece of trash company. The Joplin family would never do such a business. Cole, I'm too old to be worrying about you. Are you only happy if you piss me off?"

Grandma looked at me resentfully. She had dark circles under her eyes. I guessed she had not been sleeping well recently.

"Grandma, I told you a long time ago that I was going to open this company no matter what. Your feelings are not taken into consideration."

I didn't want to argue with her on a day like that. I looked away so that she could not see my face. "Grandma, if you want to stay, you're more than welcome. If you don't want to be here, you can go. I won't force you to stay."

"You brat! How could you say that to me?" Grandma slapped her thigh furiously. "Don't think I don't know for whom you set up this company. It's all for that naughty brat, Xavier. You've done so much for your son, but does he care? Do you know that he's always been with Jared?"

Grandma only said that because she was angry. No matter what, Xavier was still her great-grandson, after all.

My gaze darkened. I remembered that Grandma used to like Xavier a lot. I had no idea why she had suddenly turned hostile toward him as if he were the enemy.

"Grandma, don't you forget. Xavier is my son."

"He isn't part of the Joplin family anymore. He has changed his name."

My expression instantly darkened. "Who told you that?"
