The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 356

"Bitch." Gerald snarled as he raised his hand to strike, but I intercepted his hand in mid-air.

I pushed his hand back unhappily as I said, "Gerald, she's my wife. Stick to the topic at hand."

Gerald did not have the guts to confront me in a public setting like this, so he swallowed his anger. He took a deep breath and looked at Lorraine with disdain. "Just you wait."

"Didn't you hear me?" I tapped the table in front of him impatiently.

When he stared at me silently, I grabbed Lorraine's hand and prepared to leave.

Right as I got up, Gerald suddenly said, "All I know is that her parents are quite rich."

Lorraine froze. Her eyes started to redden when her parents were mentioned.

"So, you really do know who they are?" I asked.

"I do, but I don't know if they're even alive now," Gerald replied as he leaned back into his chair. He put his hands behind his head and crossed his legs to make himself comfortable.

His words hit Lorraine hard. She had a look of fear on her face as she muttered, "What do you mean by that?"

Were her parents not alive anymore?

Had they already passed away?

Lorraine's face paled, and she started to stumble a bit.

I leaned over and steadied her before shooting a warning glare at Gerald.

"Watch yourself. You'd better have something useful to say." I was in no mood to play his games.
