The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 358

I could imagine how terrifying I looked at that moment. My eyes were bloodshot, and my lips were tightly pursed together. The medical staff stood frozen in place, having been intimidated by me.

Murphy nervously put a hand on my shoulder. "Mr. Joplin, let's step outside for now."

He knew my temper very well after being with me for so long.

"Get to work!" I snapped.

I shook off his hand and gazed across the room.

The doctor I had grabbed earlier raised his head cautiously and said in a trembling voice, "Sir, we'll make sure to examine your wife's condition as soon as possible. Could you please…"

He tapped my wrist lightly with his fingertip. "Let go of my hand first?"

I slowly calmed down and released my grip on him. "Make it quick."

He nodded frantically, and they started to treat Lorraine. Murphy immediately dragged me outside.

Lorraine had been in the room for almost half an hour when a doctor finally walked out.

"What's the situation?" I demanded.

"Her vital signs are stable. There's no immediate danger, but her immune system is quite weak right now. On top of that, she isn't in a good mental state. It seems that she's been under a lot of stress recently, which led to signs of a threatened miscarriage. We recommend complete bed rest," the doctor said.

A threatened miscarriage?

I glanced through the window to look inside. "When can I go in to see her?"

At least the baby was safe.

As for the threatened miscarriage, I rubbed my eyes. It seemed like Lorraine would have to frequent the hospital during her pregnancy from now on.

"You can go inside once she wakes up and we make sure all her vitals are stable," the doctor explained.

The doctor was much calmer than before. He had seen many emotional family members before and understood why I acted that way.

I watched as the doctor left and glanced at Murphy. "See if we can transfer her to another hospital."

Murphy had gone to the nearest hospital to get Lorraine treated quickly just now.
