After all, Henry wasn't young anymore. Mom wouldn't be able to bear the responsibility if anything happened.
The security guards stepped forward to help Henry up, but he shoved them away. "Get lost! Who do you think you are?"
Mom frowned. Since he was refusing to leave, then they might as well settle the asset division for the divorce.
"I'm not leaving empty-handed. Go back and talk to your mother about how much you're giving me. I don't mind a 40-60 split," she proposed.
She didn't need much. She just wanted a fair distribution of their assets.
"A 40-60 split? Dream on. Nothing from the Joplin family belongs to you," Henry scoffed.
Mom's expression darkened as she sneered, "The Joplin family? Have you forgotten that half of your family's assets came from me?"
She came from a wealthy family. Her insistence on marrying Henry, who had been penniless at the time, caused her to cut ties with her family.
Even though she regained contact with them after Joplin Group recovered, their relationship never fully recovered.
However, she brought a lot of money with her back then. Without those assets, Joplin Group might not have survived.
"Those things are long gone," Henry muttered guiltily. He knew better than anyone who the Joplin family had relied on to recover back then.
"Henry, are you trying to play dumb?" Mom snapped.
There was no way he lost all those assets from back then.
Henry responded with a cold snort and an air of defiance. He acted like he was dealing with something troublesome.
Mom was getting impatient. If that was how Henry wanted to play it, then she wouldn't hold back. She pulled out a summons from the court. "I was hoping we could part amicably, but since you refuse to acknowledge all that I've done for you, then we'll settle this in court."
