The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 373

"What else do you want to say?" Mom asked in a defiant tone, her face filled with impatience.

She had long since lost all respect for Henry. Just thinking about his despicable actions made her hate her previously weak self even more. If she had just left Henry earlier, I wouldn't have needed to suffer so much.

"Do you know that Joplin Group is in a lot of trouble right now?" Henry asked.

He grabbed Mom's wrist, ignoring Lorraine as he continued, "It's all thanks to that no-good son of yours."

He looked at Mom with a mix of hatred and disdain.

In the past, he had been able to pretend to maintain a harmonious relationship with her. Even though Mom was a bit dull, she still treated him earnestly. If it weren't for me causing so much trouble recently, Henry might have considered bringing Mom back.

"Tell Cole to know his place. I know he listens to you the most," Henry demanded.

"He's your son too. Why don't you tell him?" Mom shook off his hand in annoyance.

Henry only came to see her because he had no other choice. There was no way she wouldn't be able to see through his intentions after being married to him for so long.

"You want me to plead for you? Henry, what right do you have to ask that of me?" Mom snapped.

Mom might have listened to Henry when they were still together, but they were already separated. What made Henry think that she would help him?

"Don't you want to come back to the Joplin family?" Henry asked.

Henry grabbed her wrist tightly. "I'll let you come back as long as you make Cole back off."

"Go back so that I can be your maid again?" Mom retorted. "Keep dreaming."

She turned and hooked her arm around Lorraine's. "Lorraine, let's go."

Lorraine nodded obediently. She would have already called security on Henry if he wasn't my father. She glanced at Henry, who stood frozen in place, before following Mom back inside.

They hadn't seen if Henry had left or not, but they could faintly hear him talking to someone downstairs.

"Mom, shouldn't we check what's happening downstairs?" Lorraine asked, worried that Henry was pulling something below.

Mom shook her head confidently. "Don't worry. He doesn't have the guts to do anything."
