Grandma turned her head toward Chris. "Who cares about that piece of trash?"

Her disdain for Chris had reached its peak. He couldn't even handle minor contractual issues yet had the audacity to claim that he was her grandson. What an embarrassment.

She had Frankie read the divorce agreement clause by clause.

"Clause 13: After the divorce, Cole Joplin, Nicole Beckett… will sever all ties with the Joplin family…"

Frankie paused and tried to skip over the names.

"You haven't finished reading it." Grandma opened her eyes. Even though she was weary, she was still sharper than most.

"Jonas, Xavier, and my unborn child are included." I picked up where Frankie stopped. If he would not say it, I would.

"You want the Joplin family's lineage to stop here?" Grandma slammed her hand onto the couch.

"Don't you still have Chris? He might be able to give birth to a child capable of running the company," I said.

Chris' expression soured. If looks could kill, I might've died a few times over.

"Nonsense! How smart could a child of his be?" Grandma scoffed.

The father was already dumb enough, so the child could only be worse. But she really liked Jonas and Xavier.

"I can't agree to this clause," Grandma declared.

How could the Joplin family's children be left to drift outside? On top of that, one of them was a programming genius while the other…

The other might not have displayed any talents yet, but at least Jonas was obedient and sweet. With proper guidance, he wouldn't turn out poorly.

"Grandma, I'm already severing ties with the Joplin family. They won't have any ties to the Joplin family either," I said firmly.

"Are you planning on disowning your father as well?" Grandma didn't expect me to be this ruthless.

"A divorce is fine. You can start your own company as well. But you can't deny that you're a part of the Joplin family," Grandma declared, ignoring any further arguments as she signaled Frankie to continue reading the terms.
