The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 68

The title of the articles were highly suggestive.

"CEO of Joplin Group Forced Ex-Wife to Divorce and Abused His Child."

I couldn't believe that someone actually accused me of forcing Yvonne to get divorced because I couldn't win her back. How absurd was that? When did I need to resort to such petty tricks to win the heart of a woman?

Murphy quietly closed the door to my office, and the sound from the video clips reverberated throughout the spacious room.

"Force? Heh." I couldn't be bothered with it. I tossed my phone to the desk, wearing a disdainful expression.

Yvonne made up a big chunk of the content in the news. What on earth was she trying to do? She got a lot of money from the divorce. Was that not enough for her?

On top of that, I had never missed the monthly alimony payouts. What the heck was she trying to achieve?

My head hurt so much that I didn't hear the sound at the door.

"Are you in there, Cole?" Lorraine raised her voice and said.

I was stunned for several seconds before I responded, "Come in."

"Are you alright?"

Did Lorraine see the news? I guessed she did. After all, the news had gotten so big that it was impossible for her not to see it.

"It won't affect me."

Lorraine had been very proactive lately, and our relationship had taken great strides. I loved that about it, but Jonas was having trouble adjusting to it.

"That's great. I was worried that you might be in a bad mood, so I made you some soup." Lorraine always loved making food. Due to our rapidly developing relationship, she would visit me in the office from time to time.

"Thank—" Before I could finish my sentence, my phone rang and interrupted me. "Excuse me."

"What's going on with the news, Cole?"

Did Grandma get wind of it already?

I glanced at Lorraine and turned my phone volume down. "It's all fake."
