The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 69

Lorraine didn't even say anything about the rude stuff Grandma said. Instead, she was looking out for me. That was how she had always been. She constantly had my best interests at heart.

I looked at her and felt a sting in my nose. "I'm sorry. I didn't handle my family matters well enough."

I put her through some miserable stuff today.

"It's fine." Lorraine wasn't bothered at all. She shrugged and handed me the bowl of soup. "It took me three hours to make it. Why don't you have some?"

"Wouldn't have it any other way." I took the bowl and sniffed it. My eyes widened as I said, "It's nicer than the soup my maid prepares."

"Stop pulling my leg." Lorraine swayed slightly, blushing involuntarily.

There was only half of the soup left, and she asked me to bring back some for Jonas. I didn't reject her. When she turned and left, I couldn't stop myself from calling out to her.

"I'll do something about the news." I had decided to be with Lorraine, and it was my job not to disappoint her.

"I have faith in you." She smiled and turned to leave.

I couldn't suppress the news in a single day, and Yvonne even called me to ask how things had been for me. She was probably trying to find out if I had intervened in the news, which was getting worse.

Why was Yvonne this anxious about it?

I listened to her monotonous voice and was unnerved. It seemed like she wouldn't come clean about it, and her attitude would easily lead people to think that she didn't know how to say nice things.

As the news circulated, more and more netizens belittled me. I couldn't avoid it even if I wanted to.

"Stop looking at it." Lorraine covered my phone, feeling heartbroken.

"If I'm to win this debacle, I have to know what she's done." I had to know how the news developed if I wanted to argue with the person who posted it.

With that said, we still couldn't find out who was the person posting these articles, which was strange in and of itself. I had faith in Murphy's capability, so that left only one possibility.

The perpetrator had to be a foreigner. In fact, he could even have a fake social security number.
