Chapter 40 

In the morning, everyone got up early. 

With dark circles around his eyes, Henry found Madeline in the restaurant. 

She was pouring soybean milk. 

“Madeline.” he called her. “I’ve got something to tell you.” 

Madeline turned around and glanced at him. “Just say it” 

“About Henry was about to tell her something 

“Henry, you’re awake. Why are you so late today?” Upon hearing the noise, Winslet ran over and took Henry’s arm. “I have been waiting for you for a long time. We are going to play together today. Have you forgotten?” 

Henry looked at Madeline, hesitating 

“Henry, come help me choose a house. We’re staying overnight at the mountain retreat tonight,” she said. 

Madeline smiled. “Don’t worry about me” 

Henry frowned and was taken away by Winslet 

He could only persuade Madeline later. 

Madeline’s hand was scalded by the soybean milk. She shook her wrist and wiped it with a tissue

Those were all from her childhood. 

“Oh, playing the self–inflicted pain trick?” Lucas strolled over with an air of leisure. “Tsk, tsk… You’re moving out today, so behave yourself from now on 

Madeline didn’t speak

Madeline chuckled and looked up at Lucas “Do I need to thank you for reminding me?” 

“What else?” Lucas held a straw and took out a bottle of milk from the fridge. “By the way do you play games?” 

He wondered, “If not, how could there be two people in the world with such similar voices?” 

“Yes” 

Lucas was stunned and looked at Madeline’s back. 

“Maybe it was just a coincidence?” he thought to himself. 

What kind of games could a country bumpkin play? 

“Are you playing Minesweeper or Tetris Lucas asked her curiously. 

Madeline clenched the cup in her hand and looked back with a bit of embarrassment

You should come with us and not wander around. She added, “By the way, the engagement cancellation banquet is tomorrow. Later, go buy some decent clothes so you don’t look sloppy.”

Layla didn’t know what to say “Come back early, or we won’t wait for you.”

“Where are you going? I’ll drive you there,” Henry offered.
