Chapter 50 

Madeline was ashamed and didn’t dare to look up. 

She felt like she had wronged them. 

She was like a child who had done something wrong, not daring to look into Caleb’s eyes at all. 

Caleb lowered his head and saw the high heels on Madeline’s feet. 

He was worried that she might be hurt when walking. 

Thus, he bent over and carried her in his arms. 

“There, there. Don’t cry. It was my bad. I’m sorry.” 

Even though he didn’t know what he did wrong, he knew that he should just apologize. 

Madeline’s eyes twitched and she cried, “I can walk on my own. 

Caleb strode into the mansion. 

“Don’t wear high heels in the future!” 

Madeline wrinkled her nose. 

She could have kept up a strong front outside. 

But in front of Caleb, she lost control over her emotions the moment she started feeling emotional. 

Hazel hurried over to meet her boss when she saw him coming home. 

However, when she saw him holding a small woman, she couldn’t help but rub her eyes. 

A woman? An actual woman! 

Hazel was shocked beyond belief. “Mr. Simmons, you’re back. It must’ve been tough on you, Mrs. Simmons.” 

Caleb frowned and scolded, “What nonsense are you spewing? She’s Maddie!” 

He said in a cold tone, “Look carefully. Don’t make Maddie feel uncomfortable.” 

Hazel was startled and peeked at the woman who buried her head in her boss‘ embrace. 

She seemed to be crying. 

Hazel hurried to clean up 

the room. 

Her mind was all over the place. 

As the housekeeper here, they all knew that there was a taboo that could not be mentioned. 

Madeline. 

Three years ago, Madeline left this mansion. 

Eight months ago, the boss found her.

Chapter 50 

It was said that she went to study in the countryside. 

She even found herself adoptive grandparents and lived well. 

Later, the master never mentioned Madeline or anyone else and banned anyone from mentioning her. 

That was his taboo. 

Caleb placed Madeline on the couch. 

Caleb squatted down, took off her high heels clumsily, and threw them aside in disgust. 

He then stretched out his slender and well–defined arms. 

He massaged Madeline’s ankle with his palm. 

“Does it hurt? You must be very tired.” 

Madeline pursed her lips and said, “No.” 

Caleb let out a laugh and massaged her calf. 

Madeline gasped at that. 

Caleb was stunned when he found that her legs were wearing skin–colored silk stockings, which were stained with some blood. 

He ripped it off without hesitation. 

Her seemingly smooth calf was covered with bruises. 

Her fair legs were full of scratches. 

“It’s okay. I was scratched by aquatic plants last night, and I bumped into some stuff. I put on an act to leave the Larson residence. However, the rain was a little heavy, so some minor things happened in the process. Don’t worry. These minor injuries will recover in a few days.” 

Madeline pulled her legs back as she spoke. 

However, Caleb’s hands were like iron clamps. 

She could not move an inch. 

“Do they even deserve your worry?” 

Caleb raised his eyes, suppressing his anger. “Why are you disregarding yourself like that? Are you looking down on yourself?” 

Hazel said as she walked downstairs, “Boss, the sheets and quilts for guests are changed 

However, before she could respond, she heard Madeline crying again. 

Caleb looked down at the girl on the couch fiercely. 

Hazel was also a little scared. Her boss was really terrifying when angry. 

“Should I hide?” She thought. 

But when she got closer, she found that the master was holding a towel in his hand.

Chapter 50 

“It hurts…” Madeline was in tears. 

“Oh, so you actually feel pain? Deal with it!” Caleb frowned and wiped the wound with a towel. 

“Hazel, bring the medical kit here! Also, take a pair of flat slippers and a loose nightgown too. They’re in the closet!” 

Hazel hurried to carry out his orders. 

Madeline hugged the pillow on the sofa and let Caleb clean her wounds. 

She frowned, and her eyelashes were wet. “Caleb, why do you have a nightgown in your closet? Do you have a girlfriend?” 

She suddenly felt a sharp pain and asked, “Why are you so rough?” 

Caleb stared at her coldly, “The clothes in the closet are all brand new.” 

Madeline couldn’t figure it out, “Oh.” 

The living room was quiet. 

The light of the crystal lamp illuminated the living room. 

The housekeepers kept quiet, not daring to make any noise. However, they were all curious about Madeline. 

Hazel came back with the nightgown. 

The chef grabbed her and asked, “This little girl is so beautiful. Why did the boss make her cry? What’s their relationship?” 

Hazel pursed her lips and said, “Her name is Madeline. Do you remember the first rule of working here, the name that we can’t mention?” 

The chef was surprised. “That’s her?” 

Hazel nodded and said, “Yes. Madeline is the boss‘ sister from the orphanage, but they’re not related by blood.” 

Hazel gave her a knowing look. 

The chef immediately understood and said, “I’ll get Ms. Larson some mushroom soup.” 

The medical kit was put 

aside. 

Madeline changed into a beige pajama in the small room on the first floor. 

She then went back to the couch, looking a lot more relaxed. 

She seemed very young and tender. 

Caleb rolled up his sleeves. He had a valuable watch on his left wrist and rosary beads on the right. 

He focused his eyes, half kneeling on the ground, and placed Madeline’s leg on his lap. 

He dipped a cotton swab in iodophor. 

“There, there,” Caleb coaxed. 

Madeline nodded, “It’s fine. I’m not afraid of pain.” 

Caleb snorted and wondered who just cried like a baby earlier.
