Chapter 7
Lucas fretfully settled into his gaming chair, powering on his computer.
‘The attire he wore casually exposed his graceful collarbone, and he appeared remarkably handsome donning his headphones.
Upon logging into the game, he went through his usual routine, scanning to determine if the big shot under the ID
“He hasn’t been online for days.” Lucas tutted. “Did something happen to him?”
“Lynn” was currently online.
After hesitating for a while, he sent out a message of concern.
[Failed to send chat messages. The other party will not accept message requests from non–friends.
Lucas expression immediately changed when he saw the notification.
“What’s going on?”
He couldn’t help but wonder if he was just having a streak of bad luck.
First, he had the misfortune of encountering Madeline, the so–called jinx. And now, he had been unfriended by the big shot in the game.
Lucas became even angrier at the thought of this.
That night, he was live–streaming his gameplay. Without Lynn’s protection, he faced defeat and had no choice but to retreat.
Countless people taunted him in the scrolling comments, ridiculing his inability to achieve anything without Lynn’s assistance.
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
Lucas‘ demeanor was a far cry from his usual high–spirited self, he seemed more like a defeated bird.
“He’s just busy, He’ll join me in the game when he’s available. By the way, I’ll block whoever says I’m lame!”
After uttering those words, he lifted his head and downed a large glass of iced drink, his eyes holding a hint of contemplation
He knew he couldn’t afford to lose Lynn.
Meanwhile, in a corner booth of an internet café, Madeline was engrossed in playing games, her demeanor calm and composed as she began a relaxed live stream.
Her game ID was Lynn, the very same big shot that Lucas had been pining for and wondering about.
Her live stream attracted a significant number of Fans from the start, given that her alternate account was a well–known figure in the game and had frequently made appearances in other players‘ live streams.
With headphones perched on her head, Madeline defily moved her fingers across the illuminated keyboard. Her eyes were bright and focused. reflecting the light of the monitor,
[Lynn, are you playing alone!]
[You play really well. There’s no need to take that loser under your wing.]
[That’s right. You will definitely become popular if you do well in live–streaming.]
“Is that so? Can I actually earn a good amount of money from this? I’m a bit tight on funds, Madeline remarked in a composed manner.
Her words instantly sent shockwaves through the minds of those behind the scrolling comments.
(That voice! She sounds like a… cool and badass girl!]
[How can Lynn be a girl and so skilled at games!]
Seeing
skepticism, Madeline turned on the webcam and revealed her hand while playing.
These hands were slim and delicate unmistakably a girl’s hands.
‘I didn’t use a voice changer. I can’t afford one Madeline clarified.
Chapter 7
Everyone took a closer look at the name of Lynn’s live streaming account – Begging Lynn.
This girl had a sense of humor, it seemed.
At six o’clock in the morning. Madeline signed off the channel after informing her viewers that she would be ending the live stream.
She leaned against the chair and stretched her waist. “This is a good way to make money during the summer holiday. I need to save enough money for my tuition and Grandpa’s medical expenses, and I don’t have much time to do so.”
Madeline took a look at the live–streaming data
The live–stream reached its peak with over 200,000 viewers that night, maintaining an average of more than 100,000,
After dividing the gifts, she managed to earn around 600 dollars.
This was a remarkable feat for a new game streamer who had just started live–streaming on the first day.
Undoubtedly, this was a great way for Madeline to earn money, especially since she needed money urgently.
She pursed her lips and smiled. “Thankfully, my gaming skills haven’t faded. Otherwise, I’d have a tough time begging the whole world for money”
Madeline stood up and left the internet café.
Alexander Zinn, the owner of the café, propped his chin up with one hand and waved to her with a smile. “Impressive gaming skills, young lady. Feel free to visit us anytime”
Madeline paused and asked, “Can I get a discount if I apply for a monthly pass!”
Alexander replied, “Sure, I can offer you a complimentary monthly pass. You’re quite easy on the eyes, and if you’re a regular here, why not?”
Madeline frowned. “Don’t be such a freak.”
Alexander rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment, thinking, “I guess I might have scared off this young lady”
He checked his phone and thought to himself, “Steven might show up here tonight. The thought of someone like him coming to Acocester is enough to make the whole place shake”
Feeling hungry, Madeline decided to have some spaghetti.
After satisfying her hunger, she returned to the Larson residence, her eyes showing signs of dark
she had missed.
ns of dark circles, and she settled in to catch up on the sleep
Upon arriving at the door, Madeline noticed Lucas driving back. He appeared completely worn out, holding a bag of iced drinks in one hand and milk and snacks in the other.
Upon seeing them in the yard, Winslet paid no attention to Madeline and instead rushed over to Lucas,
“Lucas, why did you leave so early in the morning? You’re usually up so late. I never thought I’d see you working hard for once.”
“I got you some milk, you greedy kitten. You mentioned that you ran out of your favorite brand this morning, right? Lucas handed the bag of snacks to Winslet and affectionately parted her head. “You shouldn’t be waking up so early during summer vacation. We’ll take care of you, so you don’t need to work so hard”
I’m used to it,” Winslet said, pouting playfully at Lucas. “And besides, I can’t just live off Mom and Dad when they get older, can I?
“You have five older brothers. We can easily support you,” said Lucas.
