The Ruthless Lycan King Fell For His Slave Mate novel Chapter 34

Startled, Lyra looked at him. He was now awake and staring at her. Her lips parted soundlessly.

He cocked his head. “Get in.”

She blinked. “What?”

Julian looked towards the door. The footsteps were getting closer. “Get in bed with me, unless you want to be discovered,” he told her. “You won’t make it out of here in time.”

Lyra swallowed hard. He was right. She could leave, but whoever was out there would see her. But…to get into his bed?

“He is almost here,” Julian said, arching an eyebrow.

Oh well. It was not like she had not shared a bed with him before. And done much more obscene things. Acting quickly, she climbed on the bed and lay on his other side. She wiggled downwards so that when he pulled the blanket to his chest, she was completely covered.

It was warm and smelled like him and medicine. She held as still as she could. A few seconds later, she heard the sound of the door opening. Heavy footsteps walked towards the bed.

“You are up,” Asher’s voice reached her. Lyra exhaled in relief. It was better that it was Asher and not a nurse or anyone else. Even if she slipped and he realised she was there, well, he knew all about her and Julian.

Julian grunted. “I’ll be out of here in no time.”

“I doubt a rogue would have put you on your back,” Asher said. “What really happened out there?”

There was a moment of silence before Julian revealed, “It was a corrupted wolf.”

Lyra bit her lip. Just as she had thought. Julian could have easily handled a rogue. It was also as she had feared, that the injury inflicted by the wolf posed a danger to Julian.

“What?” Asher exclaimed in surprise. “A corrupted wolf? How is that possible? We eradicated them a long time ago.”

“Clearly, not as thoroughly as we thought,” Julian said, sounding sombre. Corrupted wolves were a danger to not just the werewolf community but to humans as well. They were a product of forbidden experiments, designed to hunt and nothing else. They had no consciousness, making them efficient war machines.

When they had appeared, they had caused a lot of havoc among packs, slaughtering many werewolves. Fortunately, the royal warriors had hunted them down and eradicated them from the region. At least, that’s what they had thought.

Given the threat that corrupted wolves posed to the community, their reappearance was enough to cause pack leaders around the kingdom to lose confidence in the crown and ask Julian to step down as the Lycan King.

Asher sighed heavily. “We’ll have to deal with it as quickly as possible. Those packs that have been challenging you because you don’t have a queen will have an even better excuse to encourage others to rise up against you.”

“You are ri–” Julian cut himself off with a groan. Hidden under his blankets, Lyra froze. She had shifted a little and accidentally brushed against his groin.

“Are you in pain?” Asher asked him, worried. He stepped closer to the bed. “Do you need help?”

“No!” Julian told him sharply, stopping him in his steps. “No. I’m fine. We’ll discuss how to go about this situation later. You can leave now.”

Asher hesitated. “Are you sure you are okay? I can get a nurse–”

“I’m alright,” Julian answered with finality.

“Alright,” Asher said. “I’ll take my leave.”
