The Ruthless Lycan King Fell For His Slave Mate novel Chapter 8

Julian was vaguely aware of his Gamma, Kyle, rambling on and on about the latest financial report of the royal pack. But his mind was elsewhere, lingering on what happened the previous night with Lyra.

He could remember her scent, how she tasted…and it was causing a stir in his loins. It had been so many hours since then, but he could swear he could still taste her on his tongue.

Why on earth was he still thinking about it? She was nothing special. He had had his share of sweet, great pussy before. Better than that of a whoring Omega…

“Wonder if that’s because she is your mate,” his wolf Yuri said sarcastically. “Just be true to yourself, you want to devour her.”

Julian ground his teeth together and said nothing. It did not matter whether she was his mate or not. Fine. He could not deny that the experience last night had been out of this world. In fact, it had been perfect.

When he first met her, he had thought he would not soil his hands by touching a dirty whore like her. She was beneath him in so many ways. But when she came out of nowhere last night when his body was under the influence of the full moon…his attraction to her had hit him like a train.

In that moment, she was everything he wanted, everything he ever wanted. Her scent alone was enough to drive him crazy. It did not help that she had such a beautiful, utterly fuckable body, and the way she sounded when she moaned…

Fuck.

No wonder she was not satisfied with just her mate. With the way she looked, males must be tripping over themselves to get her attention. The thought of her with another male put a bitter taste in his mouth, and it reminded him of exactly why she was not a good fit for him.

“Why don’t you just claim her?” Yuri suggested.

“I cannot accept an Omega as the kingdom’s queen,” Julian replied resolutely. That would be disastrous for the kingdom.

“You are the one who enforces the rule about mates, but you are going to reject your own?” Yuri questioned.

“Who said I’m rejecting her?” Julian asked. “Have you forgotten the stupid curse? I need her to avoid it. I have no idea why the Moon Goddess would stick me with someone as useless as her, but I can’t disobey.”

At that point, the door to the meeting room opened and Asher walked in. “Gloria is here,” he informed Julian. “She is waiting in the living room.”

Gloria, right. The Luminous Pack Alpha’s daughter who was one of his potential future queens. But that was not the she-wolf he was thinking about.

“What about Lyra?” he asked casually, sitting back in his chair.

Asher made a noise in the back of his throat. “It did not take her long to cause trouble, and she has been assigned to the kitchen. She is in charge of lunch for you and your guest.”

Julian gave a curt nod. She was already causing trouble? Did she think she was still in her old pack where she could do whatever she wanted? Seriously, why her? There were thousands of she-wolves in his kingdom…why did it have to be her?

A few moments later, Julian walked into the living room. He was annoyed as soon as he sensed Gloria’s intense gaze on him, as if he was a piece of meat she was salivating after.

Of course. With the absence of his mate for so many years after his transformation, many powerful packs had been clamouring to get him to choose their daughters as his Luna. Gloria’s father, Alpha Ander, had been especially forceful about pushing his daughter to become queen.

Julian agreed, Gloria was a good candidate to become queen. Plus, the Luminous Pack was the closest to the royal family, and many thought the two of them would naturally end up together. If it was not for his curse, Julian would have probably given up his search for his mate and mated with Gloria a long time ago. Alpha Ander thought Julian was wasting time and that he should have given up looking for his mate years ago. But of course, he did not know about Julian’s curse.

Now that Julian had found his mate and could settle his mind about the repercussions of the curse, he could seriously consider the marriage.

“Your Majesty,” Gloria greeted, rising from her seat and bowing her head slightly. She was dressed expensively and her designer perfume penetrated his nostrils from a mile away. A thought he did not like at all streaked through his mind–that he much preferred Lyra’s natural scent.

Julian gave her a nod and took a seat, throwing one leg over the other. Gloria remained standing, hesitant. What, did she want a welcome kiss or something?

A fake smile gathered on her lips as she sat back down. She held her head high, and there was a calculating look in her eyes. “It’s been a while since we saw each other,” she said.

“I’ve been busy,” Julian told her.

“Of course,” she said. “You are the king after all. Thank you for seeing me today.” She pressed a hand to her chest, looking woeful. “My father was beginning to think that I did something wrong to make you avoid me. This will settle his mind.”

Julian wondered how Alpha Ander would react when he formally refused to take Gloria as his next queen. He had been sitting there for less than a minute, but he could already tell it was a no for her.

As they made small talk about the kingdom’s affairs, Julian’s hairs stood on end as he sensed a sudden presence in the room. A moment later, Lyra walked into sight, wearing a maid’s uniform and pushing a food trolley.

Julian’s eyes followed her every movement as she began setting the dining table. She was focused on her task, not sparing the two of them a look. That stirring returned to Julian’s abdomen as he got a flashback of her creamy thighs bathed in the moonlight. Sitting there, watching her set the table, he felt himself begin hardening.

Fuck. It.

Finally, she walked over to the sitting area and with her head bent and her eyes on the floor, said, “Your Majesty, lunch is ready.”

Julian got to his feet and walked over to Gloria. He held out his hand like a perfect gentleman. “May I?”

Surprise flickered in Gloria’s eyes at his sudden change in attitude, but she smiled brightly and placed her hand in his. Once she was on her feet, Julian placed his hand on her waist and looked her straight in the eyes. “Let’s eat.”
