"I just suspect he's been deceived," Jenny said honestly. She believed that Paul was worried about Alec, too.

Paul frowned when he heard her. "You're not saying this just because he doesn't like you anymore, are you?"

"That has nothing to do with it. Don't you think he's been behaving abnormally? If not, you can pretend that this call never happened. But if you do, and you're refusing to tell me for personal reasons, you're not thinking of Alec as a friend and letting him be manipulated."

She was placing the responsibility on him. Now, Paul had to tell her the truth regardless of whether he wanted to.
