Under the Heiress' Facade novel Chapter 1075

"We'll never get married." Gideon's words hit Amelia hard. Even though she knew Gideon didn't believe in marriage, hearing him say it still pained her.

Had she only ever been a mere friend to Gideon? Did he not feel anything even after the intimacy they shared?

"I used to admire your mother, but admiration doesn't mean love. Besides, I don't believe in marriage," Gideon explained.

Since Eli was young and might not understand, Gideon added, "That means I've decided never to marry. This decision won't change for anyone, not even your mother."

Eli stared at him in a daze, not fully grasping the idea, but he understood enough. Gideon wasn't going to marry his mother or be his father.

All the hopes Eli had built up vanished. He felt deceived. But was it Dora's fault for promising him that someone he truly wished for would definitely become his father? Or was it Gideon's fault for giving Eli false hope?

It was the first time he wanted something very badly. He yearned to have Gideon as his father. But why was it so hard to get what he wanted?

"I understand," Eli replied sadly, walking past Gideon. As he was about to leave, he stopped when he noticed Amelia standing nearby. "Mom?"

Gideon turned and finally noticed Amelia, who had probably overheard the conversation. Her face was pale, and both of them guessed she had heard everything.
